I really have no idea what I have here. It kind of reminds me of some type of a harness ring.

Kind of looks like a old rusted bottle opener to me... the kind that was on early pop machines...

Wow! That's a good one. I actually had to grab a bottle and see if it would fit. Fortunately it doesn't.

Anyone else have a guess? The site has produced some finds from the 1700's.

Sort of looks like a wall hanging hook
I see a rusted spot / circle at the peak that could be from a nail, to hang
Just a guess

I'm thinking - part of a window latch

I have never seen a window latch that has a base like that. They are generally open based on the strike side. Additionally, there are no signs of countersink tapers that would accommodate wood screws. I am wondering though if your relic is upside down in the photos, and if so, if it isn't a bracket off the side of an old bucket, pot, pan, or something of that nature to which a handle was attached to? The three rivets would be where it was riveted to the vessel. It also appears as though there is wear on both sides of the center nub that would be consistent with the bail bracket theory.

Interesting thought creskol. Perhaps a kettle lug. It was found on a fur trade site. You have me wondering now. Thanks for the input.
