O.K., not exactly a banner post folks, but it may be fun.
Pictured are a few oddball horseshoes I've dug. The one with the "tab" on the bottom I dug some time ago. The strange looking angled one I dug about a week ago.
Which started me thinking....... :icon_scratch:........... :dontknow:............... :sign13:....

What other odd ball horseshoes have some of you relic hunters dug up????
Post them here for all to see,
Thanks,
MM

I looked around here today MM But I didn't find any of my ox shoes that I found last year, must have put them all in the storage unit.

Nice horse shoes and the others are also interesting! The only odd thing about my horse shoe finds are the fact that I find them, LOL, I only have 3.5 horse shoes to date. Hundreds of ox shoes, found three yesterday under several inches of snow and a bottle cap. It did help the cabin fever, LOL. HH, Mike

that tab is actually the front of the shoe and corrects a horse that likes to drag its feet and therefore stumbles alot. the copper shoe may be from a mine horse, very short horses used to drag mine carts out before steam was used, copper didn't create sparks, very dangerous underground. or it could be shoe plate.

I have found lots of horseshoes, but the oddest one I ever found was an aluminum racing horse shoe. Made specifically for running in a certain direction and having extra traction.

Great info you two. Very interesting. I had no idea there were so many varieties of shoes. :hello2:

This is my share of odd horseshoes. I find dozens of normal shoes that I leave in the woods. I only bring out these corrective shoes.

Sometimes these shoes are referred to as bar shoes.
Thats correct, I work in a warehouse that supplies horseshoes & farrier supplies to the whole of the UK & Ireland. There are a range of barshoes - used for specific ailments - these are heartbar, eggbar and straightbar variants. That said, some of the shoes pictured are new to me.
A good range never-the-less...
