Hot Blast & saddle shield

Yesterday after work I went back to the 1800's house I detected at last Saturday. This time I only dug one bucket full of rusty farm crappe'.
Nothing too exciting to show for my efforts, but I did find a "Hot Blast" wood stove door dated 1870. I figured this piece would look nice somewhat restored, so I ran it through electrolysis for about 8 hrs overnight. The rust came off really well after that with a wire brush. Once dried, I coated it with Stop Rust and painted the lettering so they would stand out. Now it's a rusty masterpiece! ;D

My other finds were:

*Wheats- 1916 , 1919 "S", 1925.

*Brass saddle shield with nothing on it.

*A folded decorative pin. Maybe Victorian era. :dontknow:

*A square copper whatsit with design. Any ideas? :dontknow:

*Harmonica reeds, buckles, a lantern piece.

NO SILVER AGAIN!!! :-\ :'(

Have a safe & happy weekend everyone,
MM

Re: Hot Blast & saddle shield

Hey MM, did the Hot Blast blow your detector up? I bet you thought you had found a cannon!! Great finds. Did Buckleboy come down there and dig all the silver? Stay after it-Fall is almost here. HH.

Johnny,
Same thing I thought. I've never found a rounded end one, and a full one at that.

After digging bucket loads of iron out of this place I just got used to it. :laughing9:

I wish Buckleboy would have cleared out the iron instead of the silver. ;D I'm hoping my three bucket loads will get me in as a junior member of the Iron Brigade.

Sir Kyle

Thanks buddy,
All I kept thinking was , these folks down south must have been pretty poor not to drop at least one silver coin, but they sure LOVED their bullets. Funny how many bullet & shotgun shell casings were fired over the years. If they were worth $, I'd be a rich man. ;D I'm not giving up yet, but my arm is tired dragging that bucket of rusty iron around. :'(
Have a great w/end,
Dug

Thanks Ron.
Too bad that oval Victorian pin was folded over & broke. Unfortunately it was under a large root. :(

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE RESPONSES!!!

Thanks BB.
I hit a hot patch in the front corner of the yard and it turned up the two decorative pieces and the stove door.
The saddle shield I found under the clothes line. I'm glad I checked. ;D
