Hot Blast & saddle shield
Yesterday after work I went back to the 1800's house I detected at last Saturday. This time I only dug one bucket full of rusty farm crappe'.
Nothing too exciting to show for my efforts, but I did find a "Hot Blast" wood stove door dated 1870. I figured this piece would look nice somewhat restored, so I ran it through electrolysis for about 8 hrs overnight. The rust came off really well after that with a wire brush. Once dried, I coated it with Stop Rust and painted the lettering so they would stand out. Now it's a rusty masterpiece!
My other finds were:
*Wheats- 1916 , 1919 "S", 1925.
*Brass saddle shield with nothing on it.
*A folded decorative pin. Maybe Victorian era.
*A square copper whatsit with design. Any ideas?
*Harmonica reeds, buckles, a lantern piece.
NO SILVER AGAIN!!!

Have a safe & happy weekend everyone,
MM
