Hot rocks and Excal with 10" coil, will I have a problem?? Help!!!!!!!!

I was wondering I need some input with the purchase of the Excal from Minelab. I live in Hawaii and there are alot of hot rocks all over the place. I was wondering what would be a good coil to go with. Sand man said to go with an 8" coil and not the 10" coil, any input on this subject. Right now my PI picks up hot rocks which is a pain in the ass because I dig, dig, dig only to find a hot rock. Also, anyone used the Excal on land to hunt old house sites? Just curious because everyone says it ignores nails and still sees gold even though it is next to each other. Just wondering because there are some old house sites in Hawaii that I want to look but too many nails. Aloha ;D

Sandman is one of the most knowledgeable water hunters so I would put a lot of weight on what he recommends.

I do know you can set the descrimination on the excal and it does null out on iron. You can make test runs where you bury a gold ring on top of an old iron nail and then try to make the desc adjustment needed so it nulls the iron and sees the gold.

When I am hunting the beaches with mine I am constantly hearing it null. I use to dig nulls a lot to see if they were iron, never failed once to be anything but iron. I still occasionally dig the nulls if I am bored, and or to double check my unit, but so far Excal has been correct 100% of the times I checked the nulls.
