How do you know that a genuine metal detector

If you are buying used, you can call minelab and inquire about the serial number. If you think its fake, you probably shouldnt take the chance.

Terry nailed it. Check out the serial. If there is none, run away fast. Yes, there are fake detectors and pinpointers out there.
