My understanding is that the bike was attached to the side of the tree as an art project 17 or more years ago.

Takes a long time for a tree to grow around a bike.

lol at least it was just an art project because it certainly would have left a LARGE mark had someone crashed it like that. :laughing9:

This wasn't an art project, the bike was just leaned against the tree once upon a time and eventually the tree swallowed it up and lifted it up in the air.

The bike has since been vandalized. Someone removed the front tire and the handlebars.

You can find this bike on Vashon Island, in the Puget Sound of Washington State.

The bike had to have been placed in the tree.
The tree won't pick up a bike.

Everyone.
Do an expirament for me.

Carve a small notch on a tree trunk,
Come back years later.
I'll bet an honest man an honest dollar that mark hasn't gone anywhere.

No matter how much the tree grows up, the trunk only grows out.
The top and branches are the only part of a tree that reaches up.

second time this week I had to make this arguement....
You would figure I would learn.

The tree has clearly engulfed the bike. So you're saying the bike was placed up in a crook of the tree. Then years later as the tree grew out it swallowed the bike? Hmmmm interesting. :icon_scratch:

I broke the crank on a chainsaw finding a horse shoe a tree swallowed up once,

Glad it was my chainsaw and not the one I had borrowed from my brother Norm.
Thanks Trout. There is a sweet memory of my brother
I needed one of those today.
