I want to know how is to hunt with pro coil without discrimination does it works silent on hot rocks or gives high tone like some other FBS coils. I have three 1050 coils and one is very sensitive to hot rocks and other two near perfect!silent! so what is pro coil on hot rocks??? thank you all for info Stasys

Stasys,

Why do you say your other 1050 coils are near perfect, and don't make a sound on hot rocks? That tells me that they aren't as sensitive than your other coils that make a sound on hot rocks. If you don't have hot rocks (00-Fer, 31-Conduct on Explorers) masked out, then you should be getting a signal on them. My Pro Coil will sound off on a hot rock, in addition to falsing in highly mineralized ground. A detectorist's natural response to this would be to lower their sensitivity until the noise/falsing stops. I don't want to sacrifice depth for silent/stable machine operation, so I just mask out 4 small pixels in the upper right corner of the smartscreen (Conduct 31). That will quiet down the hot-rock/falsing, while still allowing all high conductors(including all silver) to be detected.

To me, if a coil doesn't make a sound on a hot rock, then it's not as sensitive as the ones that do.

Thanks Dan my three 1050 and excelerator, they are very different and all on high sensitivity make sound on my test rocks ,but some much more! which makes metal detecting a bit hard. I think its just a bit different tuning of this coils in factory. I prefer more silent coil with which I have bigger space for sensitivity manipulation and possibility to detect stable with higher sensitivity and comfortably longer. it would be interesting to test few pro coil side by side on the same detector and see what is different between them,or do this with tester.diferent performance coil have a bit diferent resistance when I test with tester. any body tried this? thanks
