Hey there fellow detectorist. I was curious how many of you guys use your xterra 50 or 70 for plain old relic hunting and how does it perform in that field? I have the 50 and have made some really nice little coin finds although, I have not had a chance to see how it would do in a place where there might have been some civil war activity yet. Was just wondering what your thoughts were?

Its all I use for relic hunting anymore. Get yourself one of the 10.5" DD coils for it and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the depth. However, I got one of the shorter lower rods for it and I slide my Lesche under the velcro arm strap for counter balance weight. I really need to pop the plug off the rear of the shaft and devise a counter weight inside the shaft, so it'll balance better. I had an MXT for two years, but I kept trying to get better depth with larger coils and I wound up tearing up my shoulder, so I find the reduced weight of the X-terra to be a great boon to hunting longer and its a great machine to boot.

Yea I got the 10.5 DD Mf coil. I like it. It seems to do good for relic hunting too. I found an old copper compact the other day with it. That is why I asked the question on this post...................Thanks and HH, Tim
