How many of you like garrett's??

I just bought my first detector, a garret ace 250. I have only used it for a total of maybe 2 hours. So far I've pulled up a dime and 7 pennies, and some junk metal. Nothing old, but at least I am pulling coins. I was just wondering how good of a detector they are? Thanks, and good luck. Looking forward to some treasure!

The Ace 250 is awesome! I have had mine about 6 months now and this year alone have pulled about 40 wheats, 5 silvers, a buff and some great jewelry. Detuning when pinpointing is key, also knowing the difference in a memorial cent and an older copper mem/wheat signal is key. You can can also judge the size of the target by the signal strength while pinpointing. I have learned so much more than what the manual tells. Keep swinging and learning and you'll be on your way to finding some great stuff.

I took me 2 hours just to see and listen just to the cd,s that came with my DFX and then 10 more months to understand the DFX the learning curve over half of the pre-set programs built into it i havent even turned on yet in the first year, give the 250 a chance its a great lil machine i dont care what you spend on a MD you aint going to find crap, ola until you understand the machine Good Luck Dd60

Master Hunter ADS

Three ACE 250's
GTI 2500

I've had really good luck with my Garrett's. I bought these for my grandkids, daughters, my Wife, and Me.
Good luck with your's. Happy Hunting....

Ace 250 is an absolute coin MONSTER on shallow coins especially at playgrounds. I love mine. It doesn’t do bad with relics either just not real deep in my ground. I thought about getting the bigger coil for my Ace 250 but the stock coil gets er done just fine.

I have the 250 and love it. Dig the pull tabs, I found a 6.25 gram 14K wedding band on a strong pull tab about 4 inches down. Found coins old and new. If you want to really increase your recovery time, the Garrett Pro Pinpointer is the bomb. I am in and out of the hole in less than a minute most times. (TWSS)

Most of the time Gold will ring up as pull tab with ACE 250

Re: How many of you like garrett's??

I have a ACE 250 , the thing that impressed me was when I dug 5-6 inches down I believe I was in all metal mode an it was sqealing iron but had a slight high tone (what I call money tone) at the very end of the swing.. checked all angles an had same result... Turned out to be a 1723 King George... It was laying on top of a rusty pipe ..

Re: How many of you like garrett's??

once you get the hang of your machine,
it will pay for itself in no time flat !
Ive hit wheaties and indians as deep as
8 inches, so it has some depth to it.
Good luck and keep on detecting !

The orginal poster just bought a Ace 250 an I assume that he was wanting to know how good of a machine it was..That is why the post are about ACE 250's

Re: How many of you like garrett's??

I've only hunted twice with my ACE but I love it. Just got the pro pointer and waiting on the sniper coil also

Re: How many of you like garrett's??

After uing a cibola as a first machine (dont get me wrong its a good machine) I love my ace 250. The pinpoint is spot on, its easy to use no funky calibrations and it shows me what im looking at. Great trashy park machine :)

Re: How many of you like garrett's??

One more thing....get a ProPointer! The thing is awesome. Don't let anyone tell you it doesn't get good depth, you don't need depth with a pinpointer! It gets about two inches max which is way more than enough...saves so much time and cleaner digging!

Re: How many of you like garrett's??

I have a GTI1500 that I bought about 20 years ago, a groundhog from maybe 25 years ago, and a beat frequncey Garrett from about 30 years ago. All still work great and have never been sent in for repairs. I bought my 1st Garrett in the late sixtys, a grey BF with no discriminate. I love my Garretts. Looking at getting a 2500 in the next year or so.

Re: How many of you like garrett's??

I had two great years with my ACE 250 before I got my Minelab 705. Now my son is kicking my hiney swinging the 250 finding coins before I can even get ground balanced. Great detector! :icon_thumright:
