Here is something my warped mind thinks about while MD'ing: An acre of land is 43,560 square feet, using a 10" double D coil, swinging in a three foot pass, how many passes would it take to completly cover just one acre. I realize the effective area of the coil is more a cigar shape rather then complete circle and does the effective area diminish as it gets deeper? So let's assume 6" of depth.

I fail to see what the depth has to do with it. The length of your "swing"...3' and the width of the "coil"...10".
One acre is about 208.7feet square. Moving east to west, you would need +/- 69.5 passes
Moving North to South...you would need about 250.4, 3' swings

There are 43560 square feet in an acre.
So a 3 foot wide path, 14520 long would also be an acre.
so that makes our 3 foot wide path 174240 inches long.
Soooo that would be 17,424 swings to cover that one acre.
