Mike, this varies depending on the thickness of the suit, whether it is a farmer john pants and shorty. Also your size would play a factor. If your just going to wade and not dive, you should start with what ever you feel comfortable wearing on dry land. Remember you have to walk back to the car.

Just make sure the belt has a quick release like divers wear and don't hinder the belt from falling with other things attached to it. Ankle weights are helpful too.

Thanks Sandman! That makes sense. The suite is 5mm thick Neoprene and I am 5'9" 160 lbs with very little fat content, LOL. Can you give me a close weight? I will make sure I have a quick release type belt, read about a guy who slipped off an underwater ledge over a year ago and drowned detecting. HH, Mike

when i dive, i use 20 pounds, to hold me down on the bottom tso i dont driff off will digging, thats with full 1/4" wet suit, i would say about 2- 5 pound weights would did it, u dont feel the weight that bad out deep but if ur working knee deep that extra weight wears you out, aslo if 10 pounds to much take 5 off.

Thanks RJ! HH, Mike
