✅ SOLVED How old and What was this small key used for

Found by my cousin Brian last Saturday at a site of his that has produced finds from colonial to present day items. Its fairly small, a half dollar would cover it completely, it swivels and the part that looks like the part to wind with is square and hollow. were baffled with this one.Thanks everyone,that was fast. you guys are great

agreed, the decorative handle is made to swivel as the pin is inserted into the clock and is then turned like an old hand drill. It is called a crank key and typically used on grandfather clocks.
