There is no way to positively identify the age on this item in my opinion.
I can say this... tis very old.
You may have a chance at getting a range of age if you do an electrolysis on it to clean...
It may show a tell tale sign of how it was made.
This would be your clue to start the possible solve.

ut looks to be from around 1790's to around the early 1800's. Very nice historic spoon.

Electrolysis will serve NO purpose on a pewter spoon. That cleaning method is for IRON. Water and a soft toothbrush is all you need for pewter spoons. If they start to flake, coat with 75% elmer's glue 25% water mix. Paint on and let dry.

It is done all the time... you just need to know how to do it. heh... in pewter electrolysis, it must be given cathodic protection.

And further more... used on almost all types of metals NOT just iron.

And... Elmers glue ? huh ? are you in art class in school ?
Elmers is water soluable. = no good.

You can also give it a "bath" of dilute nitric acid... (5–10% solution)...
This will remove any encrustation...
And usually has no effect on patina...
but sometimes this can put thin oxide layer which is not a big deal.

Do you intend to put your pewter buttons out in the rain afterward? :D
