How Should I Clean This Silver Coin Ring?

Hello All. I have polished this ring with a silver polishing cloth but cant seem to get Lady Liberty cleaned up good. Any suggestions? Thanks. C9

Try cigarette ash, it's a bit dirty to work with but, I used to help my gram polish here silver with the ashes from my grandads cigarettes, it's really good lol and use a microfibre cloth after to clean it off.

Drop it in lemon juice, then use toothpaste.

I would think that lemon juice would have too much acid in it and the toothpaste would be to rough.

1. Line a dish (glass or tupperware) with a sheet of aluminum foil. 2. Sprinkle baking soda on the aluminum foil3. Place silver on the aluminum foil (make sure it is in contact with the foil)4. Boil some water5. Once water is brought to a boil, pour it gently into the dish, pouring over the entire surface area of the dish, with enough water so that the silver piece is completely submerged6. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes7. Remove the piece from the dish and rinse to remove any residue from the baking sodaDepending on how tarnished your piece is, you may need to repeat the process.

A similar technique to Mr T would be instead of using baking soda, use draino. It has to be the draino that has the magnesium flakes. Use cold water, not boiling. take the aluminum foil place the ring and 2 tablespoons of draino, wrap the foil up. Place in glass jar (outside) and fill with water. When reaction dies down, check the ring.

WARNING: I am not certain the effect this will have on whatever the gemstone may be. Perhaps the jewellers advice is the best way to begin.
