How to Clean Rusted Pocket Knife

I found this pocket knife while metal detecting an old homesite and I'm hoping to identify its age. Do you guys have any idea how I could clean it or should I even try to clean it?

I would soak it in ACV for a week, then repeat with new bath.....then see what you got . May not be enough there to work with.

Those pocket knifes give me a panic attack each time I think about preserving them .
