These are currently posted on Craigslist as "Primitive Native American Stone Implements"....poster claims to believe these are authentic NA artifacts: "great sharpening grinding tools"

Poster would not accept my gentle suggestion that they are just rocks.

He'll have them for a while. Nobody is going to buy his rocks.

The bigger problem in my opinion is flint nappers who sell their reproduction pieces as authentic.

No doubt they are just rocks. You can always post an ad titled Indian Artifacts warning people to be careful buying artifacts, that there are some rocks posted as artifacts.

You would be surprised just how many people out there feel the same way he does. Someone will buy them thinking they have rare items and no one will convince them otherwise unfortunately.

It's a fairly common occurance to see these type of things listed on eBay. Not as common as fake Clovis points, but common nonetheless.

Only damages it if you are a buyer or a seller. If you are only interested in the history of your area then it’s not a problem.

Oh well, ebay is full of fakes. Now most have COA's with them. They have quite the racket going but it is dumping thousands of bogus artifacts into the collecting world each year.

That first one should be listed as a lasting for shoes......you find those all the time because people grow.....cobbler Indian he was.

It’s worth wading through the dumb stuff to not discourage others from posting cool or different rocks and ideas imo.

I looked too.

I doubt as you suggest anyone would would go to the trouble to fake the brokes and marginal pieces he has for sale.

keep in mind, moccasin lasts have been used in the past ARE still in use to day and there are quite a few people who believe in them.

On the stone moccasin lasts, I have seen a stone that was identified as such. I have never heard the old Kiowas or Comanches mention using them. Might have been I didn't specifically ask, and they didn't think it was worth mentioning. I have seen them making moccasins and they didn't use a last at all, but I thought that sort of thing would really be handy.

I used to watch great grandma make moccasins....when she did so, she would use your foot...the one on the end of your leg. You don't need but a moment to size out the foot, the rest is skill, knowledge and a lot of practice.
