how to Disc?

I have a Bounty Hunter Red Baron SPD VLF and have a question -

How can I tune it to discriminate between ferrous and nonferrous metal?

Finding gold is great, but I'm looking for meteorites (i.e. iron, among other elements) at the moment and figure if I can discriminate iron from gold, then I can certain reverse the process.


I can post a picture of my control box if that would help, I know my MD is ancient! I appreciate your input in advance!

Hi, if you're searching for meteorites you don't want to use any discrimination, search in all metal.

I dont know your detector at all but the older technology didnt have that kind of notching out certain metals. I could be wrong....but, I think they all kinda work on a system of discriminating metals from ferrous to nonferrous in a graduated scale. The more disc you used, the less likely to find iron, then tinfoil and pull tabs and gold...going up the list, eliminating everything under it.

Maybe someone else knows better than me...probably anyhow.

Right... all metal will get you the iron.

Discrimination deletes the iron signals.

I'll try it on all metal - no disc and see if that works. I have a promising location, with permission from the land owner to search their property.

If you're looking for meteorites you want to hunt in all metal and dig all targets.
