His is my first ammo find, buried down about 2ft under an old tree. Wondering what type of ammo it is and how old it is?

need measurements
 

the one is some type of cannon type shell -- its from the self contained shell era * so likely post civil war --
 

I don't know about everyone else, but I date ammo by posting pics, measurements, weights and then just wait on The CannonballGuy to give me a precise identification, lol. That guy is awesome with his knowledge.:icon_thumright:

well to find out exactly which one it is some things need to be known --length , size (dia.) , weight for a start.
 

Yes please. Weight. Diameter. Length. Im guessing at what I call a glancing photo. Im a newbie sorry CannonballGuy!
