How to succeed in business, or as I call it the Spartacus plan.... This is for all of you small business owners out there. If you like what you see, I'll toss you some more of my "award winning" ideas. YOu think think this is a joke, but it works.

Nominate yourself for an award.

Look around the internet. Ask your local chamber of commerce. There are many awards given by many organizations that accept self-nominations. Once you're nominated, publicize it with a press release. Once you're awarded the award, issue another press release. Use the award designation as part of your bio when speaking or when writing an article. Prospects love "award winning" people and businesses.

How about declaring yourself "The Biggest Pompus Ass Around" award. Maybe that will grab some attention!

Spart, years ago a man wrote a book for collectors of those metal lunch boxes that all us kids had. You know the ones with cartoon and action heroes on the sides.

So this guy writes this book on lunchboxes and adds what their collector's values are. He gives them all a value he made up out of thin air. Of course he did place the rare designs at higher prices than the common boxes.

Then he self-published and made the radio talk circuit. In almost no time this man created a market that had not existed before. And guess what he had stacked in his garage?

Lunch boxes out the ying-yang. You guessed it. He sold all his long-collected lunch boxes at phony inflated prices and made so much money he had to bail the stuff and stack it in a barn.

You have to love the clever ones.

This is a true story told to me by a man into collectibles.
