This happened yesterday but is still worth posting in my opinion. Fellow tnet member uscgdavis and I went out to a small park in our area that we’ve hit several times. I’ve popped a couple silvers and he had popped a gold ring and some old coins as well. We decided to hit an area we’d had a decent amount of success while using the 4kHz setting on our Nox 800s. Well low and behold, we were still pulling up coins that we missed. So we knew there was still stuff there.
I got a decent sounding 30-31 that rang as a high tone, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Only 3 inches down and this beauty pops out
It’s an 1886 V Nickel! Only 3 million were minted! I was so shocked. This park we were at was at the oldest maybe from the early 1910s or late 1910s. And for the coin to be only 3 inches down and routinely missed by people who I know have detected that exact spot is unbelievable to me.
Also pulled a merc, and 3 wheats. The Nox never fails to impress me!
