What is your ideal retirement?
Wow, this island was for sale for $250,000, 20 years ago in 2000. It was sold to an order of monks for $200,000.

The monastery is known to date back to the 11th century. But, there is no doubt there was much older civilization on the island.

I would have gladly paid $250k for this island and deeded it back to the monks through a trust. With the provision that I could live on the island, build a little cottage somewhere on the island, if there wasn't one I could live in, have the privilege of taking meals with them and although I'm not known as a religious person, I would like to attend some of the masses and learn Latin.
Oh, and metal detect there.
I can think of few other more pleasant ways to retire than this.
This would be near the top of my list.
To live on a beautiful, peaceful, quiet island and have free run of exploring the history of it. Eating your meals with the monks, so you have never have to worry about being fed.
All I would need is four walls and a roof to cover my bed and a solar panel to charge my metal detector.
