Howdy from West TN

Last summer, I took my six-year-old son to Gatlinburg, and he had so much fun at the gem mine places. We live in Henry County so I know our options are slightly limited. I'm looking into starting some fossil/rock hunts with him as well as doing the metal detecting. I know absolutely nothing about any of it, so any advice, tips, or tricks will be much appreciated
