A friend and I searched a yard for two hours and all we found were smashed beer and soda cans, then this came out of the ground. Can anyone tell me what it is and its age? I think I've seen them on here before.

Thanks for any help.

Seen the big cents but never the Morgan. Now that is a cool find. Looks quality, almost brass or bronze.

That is a sweet find!!!

They were sold as "Coasters" for drinks. Every once in a while they can still be found in mail order catalogs. Hope this helps.
Nice find anyway. HH

Whatta monster :o
I checked around & found non metal coasters, 1896 aluminum 'WJ Bryan' Campaign coasters, but nothing similar to yours.
I get silver from saltwater looking just like that, could be a 5 oz round :icon_scratch: Congrats

They sell those at the Watkins Glen State Park gift shop 2 towns away from me. I had a buffalo nickel one....if you find it? let me know :laughing9:

Thank you everyone for the help. If scratched its silver in color and heavy and hard, so its not aluminum or lead . It's also molded.

thank again :dontknow:

Very cool find :icon_thumright:

I would think a person has to make a very concerted effort to loose that sucka! It just doesn't fall out of a hole in your pocket. Could loose a toe that way.

Thats a bigin...Good find thats cool

That coin is bigger than most of your guys holes, I see you dig :laughing9:

I like it :icon_thumright:

The real question is how did someone lose something that large!

Wow! I bet your heart skipped a beat when you began pulling that big sucker from the ground!!

That's the inflated size of our current dollar. :laughing7:
