Hunt 87 Brings awesome railroad button 1800's and more!

Hey friends. Went out today with a buddy from work for a little detecting before the storms hit. We hit the old 1800's site I have hit twice before. this time I found a really cool I would say early 1800's- mid 1800's rail road button! It appears to be silver Im not sure. It reads rail road in teh front with what appears to be a train. The back around the ring reads S M Wanamaker & Co. Phila. Then we hit a playground. found some change there. Then the alst place a elementary school. Found some change there and a gulf shores necklace pendant. All together I found $2.09. =) anyhow thanks for looking and good luck with your next hunt!!!

Almost all railroad stuff will have the name of the line that the item is being used on,it makes me wonder if maybe this is some sort of miltary button for someone who is connected to the train? HH...Shoot

Wanamaker of Phila. was apparently the largest department store in Philadelphia at the turn of the century - 1900. Hope this helps

Olkey....your find may well be from the late 1800's...I didn't research when the department store was founded, just the likely origination of the button..the store may have been founded many years earlier..research will determine that...
