Hunt with fellow T'NETer

I had the pleasure of spending Friday hunting with fellow forum member Ed from Upstate New York. Ed is an amazing hunter and if you check his posts, you'll see he finds more old nickels than probably anyone else out there.

First off, thanks Ed for making the loooong trek down here to Mass!

Ed and I hadn't hunted together for years, so it was very cool to spend the day out there. We hit a couple of parks in Pawtucket/Providence RI- sadly the finds didn't meet our hopes.

At the first site, I got what sounded like a clad quarter signal down just a few inches but after I cut the plug, there was a large silver disk sitting in the hole! Psyched, I called Ed over to check it out, but my joy quickly fizzled when, after seeing I had a Walker, I realized there was no date at all. We both checked it with my loupe- no date. I've only found 6 of these in 20+ years and this is the first that was even close to not having a date- what a bummer!

That was it from park #1. Park #2 produced better, with a couple of Rosies, a 1905 Indian and 1914 & 1918 wheats.

I'm looking forward to seeing Ed's finds posted.

Thanks again Ed- hopefully we can do it again sooner versus later.

Nice coins. I think the Walker is the nicest design given to US coinage during the 20th century. Even in that worn condition, I think it is just BEAUTIFUL...IMO

I think I would still be very happy at finding a walking liberty or any silver for that matter. Congrats on a fun hunt. WH
