Got out this morning and hunted what is now a park here in San Jose but once was the amusement park known as Frontier Village . Back in the 1970's we were always have fun at Frontier Village ! In 1980 it closed down :BangHead: . Years ago I hunted the park that is now there and found a elongated penny from the park and a cool Good Luck token . I thought maybe I would get lucky and find one more . I didn't find any but did find three old tree markers with numbers on them . Back when the park was open from 1960 - 1980 you could walk through the park and see different types of trees and get info about them . The other finds were one old leather rivet that I am sure came off one of the Cow Boys that worked the park  . The other cool item is an tag with the number 29 and the name Artana Geoffroy . I have no clue what this is :icon_scratch: . Any info would be great ! The last item found was a junk ring  .

I added some picture of what it once looked like :icon_thumright:

Looks like it could be a wonderful load of prizes.

OIC, a tree huger preschool disguised as an amusement park. :laughing7: But seriously, I'd take a chance and hunt that site. You know what kids + money = lost coins.

It was all western themed , train ride , wagons and gun fights in the street ! I loved that place ! As for hunting it more , it has been hunted to death of the past 35 years .

I remember going there as a kid in the 60's. Nice finds Glen.

I have been there too!! This brought back memories. My Uncle's company held an annual picnic there (BBQ), so he always took the kids in the family. It was a blast!! Some of my first amusement park adventures. I don't remember the tree thing, just riding on the burros pack train, mine ride and the gun fights.

Great post! Great memories!

Nice hunt and a good read! Thanks.

Well done, , there were quite a few old amusement parks in the NYC area that I would have really enjoyed detecting.
Unfortunately, they have been developed into housing complexes or other types of structures.

love that badge--it's on my list of items I want to find--

I'm jealous....good job

Great finds especially that badge. I'd be pumped to hunt an old site like that!

We went to the park for Cub Scout events all through the 70's . Also spent lots of time with my Family during the summer . My favorite ride was the Mine ride ! Here is a post card I got when I was a kid from the Mine ride . Also I have framed up my post cards from Frontier Village ! It was a great place !

Yes, we went every year in the 70's and sometime more than once up until closing. I doubt we have pictures. My parents never went, it was my Aunt and Uncle's thing to do with us. I am going to ask my Aunt if we ever took pictures. Thanks! I was totally into the whole frontier thing, since a grade school teacher read the book My Side of the Mountain. They wouldn't let me join Cub Scouts, but I would have :laughing7:

Nice info on the old park and really neat finds. It may have something to do with trucks and tractors.

Very cool that you can go back many years later and dig treasure. Like all but the badge sure does stand out!

Great looking spot!!! Get back there and keep digging. Somewhere is going to be a silver mine!!!!:occasion14:
