Hunting for an early-mid 1900's Barber Chair
Hi, I'm currently looking to furnish a barber shop and am going for a vintage design throughout. It seems that vintage is becoming popular, so I want to take advantage of this. Enjoying antiques and collecting, I'm certainly more for the old, rather than the new. We need to make our shop feel clean and new, but I really want that vintage theme to come through, bringing the old into the 21st Century. So the key for this, has got to be a good, old-fashioned used barber chair as the main focal point, maybe even two. I don't want the same rubbish cheap ones that we've managed with before. I want a big, sturdy, vintage chair from the early to mid 1900's. Something from the Emil J Paidar or Ernest Koken period, as the chairs then were slightly more advanced than the ones that came about at the end of the 1800's. Not sure if anyone on here has any knowledge of antique barber chairs. I'm after a couple of things really. Advice on what to look for and advice on where to look. If anyone can help, that would be swell. Thanks.
