Hunting the UP

Since the leaves are falling down here in the Lower part, I think the ground should be frozen up there by Thanksgiving.

i now they have snow so it should have laved down some of the grass, ill give my dad a call tomorrow and get a snow report, dont have time now working 12's

There was 6" of the white stuff on the ground at my place in Nisula on Sunday. LEaves are all down. Been down for close to a month there. The ferns and grass were on there way. Imagine the heavy wet snow helped. Good luck. You may not want to wait to long. Usually around Turkey Day we get hammered.

I am hoping for a few warmer days before I head up. You can still hunt w/ 4 or 5" on the ground, can't you?
I have never hunted in the winter/fall/snow yet but I'll brave the elements for a chance at silver.

I don't see why you can't hunt although you will probably see a significant difference in your depth locating objects. But the main thing is if your having fun doing it and you love being in the U.P. have at it. ;D

my wife is up in Marquette tonight and said about an inch on the ground as of now

Mmmm, 16" on the ground and a 9.5 coil.....any suggestions?
Maybe a battery operated hair dryer or I can just shovel away at a big empty field and hope I clear an area where the old school used to be.

Hmm,
I'm an hour south of the bridge, and I just came in from blowing snow, again.
Prediction is for 15 to 20 inches in the next two days.

If you find a good way to detect in the UP in this weather let me know. I have snow shoes, but they are magnesium and aluminum.

Good Luck,
mark
