After the storms hit last week, we were fortunate to only loose our
internet cable instead of electric power. . . like many did in the surrounding
neighborhoods. Hopefully, it won't be too long before everyone gets
their power back on line.
Anyway, I had some time on my hands so I sorted through my detecting "treasures"
that had accumulated in our garage since last fall. It's funny how stuff like this
always seems important when you find it, but then just as quickly, can loose its
importance when you can't find places to put it (time to let Waste Management
make an executive decision on where to store it Tuesday morning).

Between all the storms that occurred last week, I hunted close to home at a local
park (early 1970's) and finally got my silver fix (after a week-long drought) along
with a spent 37mm "aircraft illumination" casing and a metal top.

On Friday, I doused myself with "Deep Woods Off" and hit a patch of woods that I previously
hunted last fall. It must have been my day for Cracker Jack prizes because I found three
within 15-minutes and included among these, my first miniature plane. As I canvassed the
area more carefully, I dug every faint aluminum/nickel signal and found the remains
of a VERY smooth V-Nickel (dateless) along with a lead fishing weight, and a squashed thimble.
My last finds included a worn GS pin and a 1919 Wheat.

This weekend, I met Lowbatts, Clad, and Mayo for some street "tear-up" hunting (thanks for
the invite Tim!) and had a GREAT time
The work crews had finished roto-tilling
the ground areas between the curb & sidewalk so it was easy digging plus, you had the thrill of
never knowing WHAT would come out of the ground next
After digging countless
Zincolns and clad, I found my oldest BQ (1893), a Chinese Cash Coin, my first Franklin of
the year, misc. jewelry, a "nudie" coin and a 1943 Merc.
Thanks for looking!
