Hey Gang, I thought I'd report in from the NC coast with some pics of Hurricane Earl. We rode out the storm last night, and all is well; Earl didn't come inland, so the wind/rain was minimal. These pics were made last evening prior to sunset. The eye of the storm was parallel with us about midnight, but as you can see the waves were pretty high prior to dark-thirty. There was a mandatory evacuation to leave the island starting at 5:00pm, and the bridges were closed at that time. There was also an 8:00 curfew. We were not on the Outer Banks, but close, My sister told me only idiots and hard core MD folks would go to the coast prior to a hurricane! LOL

This morning we hit the beach to MD shortly after 8:00am to find 5 others doing the same thing. I'll post my findings if I'm able to get back online later tonight. There's really nothing to write home about yet, but I have high hopes. I'm in the parking lot of a cyber cafe, so my connection is not very good.

Hopefully we'll find some good stuff before having to head back home after Labor Day. Breezie

First off, glad you are all right. I've always heard the detecting was good after a storm because of beach erosion. Now go out and prove it! Monty

:hello:

I'm guessing that BP station was borded up long before the storm :laughing7:

Thanks for the post Breezie. Thinking about taking a trip to VA beach this Sat to see if the storm has exposed any goodies.

Glad to hear your doin ok Breezie. We are suppose to get grazed by Earl up here tonight and early tomorrow. Its a quick mover. Just hoping we get a graze and not a hit. ::)

Those are good pics and hope everybody stays safe. I always thought it might be a good time to detect after one of those came through, so I hope you do good.

Hey Good Folks, We're back from the coast, and first of all, thanks for all the well-wishes. In a situation like that, the weather can flip flop either way. Thank goodness Earl continued on its course as predicted by the forecasters.

As far a MD was concerned it was a bust! After the hurricane came through, everything on the beach, and I do mean everything was covered in about 10 to 12 inches of sand. You couldn't even see a sea shell, much less pick up a decent signal. Everything I dug was super deep with a weak signal. The morning after Earl, there were 5 people MD in the same area as me, and all had basically empty pockets.

Below are 2 coins and a token, which is the best I have to show out of the junk I found for the weekend. I've also posted 2 mystery items, which I know what they are, but the first person who guesses what they are can have them. They were super deep in the wet sand, and obviously have been there a loooong time with the shells/sand attached to them.

;D
Breezie
