Hydraulic mining sites

Has anyone on here been really sucessful prospecting/metal detecting at any hydraulic mining sites? I've got a friend who owns some property with some hydraulic diggins on it. It looks like nobody has been digging there recently like some other places that I've been to but I haven't had much of any luck in places similar to it. Does anyone have any advice on getting good gold at a place like this? I'll try and throw up a picture of part of the area.

Aaaah I lost the pics so maybe not =/ but you can really see where they blasted the sides of the hill it all looks like tan colored clay where they did
