Found this little badge that has "K of R" on it at an old site a school use to sit from the 18 to early 1900's.
The gilt is heavily applied and almost completely in tact.
It was dug at around 10" in hard packed very rocky soil.

The thickness is around 1/16" and the back has the remnants of a soldered .04" diameter attachment pin.

The thimble was found near the badge but at only 3" deep.
It is aluminum and says "Oxidile Kills Chill" some old booze based medicine that cured everything I am sure:tongue3:

But the badge has be befuddled.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Close to the old GE badge. Coincidence? Kriesler Radio emblem?

The best I can come up with is a fraternal "Keeper of Records" pin. I see, online, a lot of references to "K of R and S" (Keeper of Records and Seals).
Your essentially right about the thimble, Oxidine was marketed to cure malaria and other ills too: Vintage Pewter Metal "Oxidine Kills Chills" Thimble (03/18/2011)

Maybe "Knights of the Republic". That's about all I got.
See if that will return you any searches. Good luck & HH!

Wow!
Thank you all for all the research.
Very interesting about the similarities of the design to the G.E. Logo.
Looks like keeper of records could be a match.
The sons of the republic of texas had a knighthood ranking back in the republic days. I am doing more research in that direction also.
Thank you again.
