Detected these piles of dumped dirt across from my work site today, the dirt comes from various places around the military installation. Nothing but scrap iron and trash so I did a recon of a recreational lake close by. Found a beautiful sandy beach with four sand volley ball courts, I thought I was in paradise! Here’s the dirt mounds, the soil here is full of rocks and makes almost any digging in any soil tough.

I detected the beach for two hours and was really let down as I had high hopes. Only found 5 coins and about 30-40 pull tabs and bottle caps. It was really a nice hunt on the beach with a few sail boats passing by, just no finds, LOL, I think someone beat me to the finds, the coins were 1 Euro (paid for parking), 1 Deutsch Mark, a French 10 Centimes and a 20 Centimes and a rusted out 10 Pfennig coin. Not worthy of a picture or me getting rained on going to the car to get them. HH, Mike

check out the volleyball courts could be a "winner"---lots of jumping around (possible jewelry lost)---forget the beach ---this is a "active" area not a "soaking up the sun spot"---look at it with a fresh point of veiw and it might pay off big time---Ivan

Bavaria Mike,

not much on the finds, but sounds
like you still had a good time ;) ;D

Photos look like a nice beach.

I'm alway's keeping my eye's peeled for the dirt pile's Mike...Too bad about the volleyball court's,they look like they should have given more than that.At least you had some good scenery though...HH!!

Nice try, Mike. You had the right idea. At least you weren't shutout.

I've found what I thought were really promissing spots only to come up empty. I guess if there is nowhere around for people to spend money they just don't have it on them to lose. :-\

haha yeah my high hopes spot today yeilded 3 cans, 15 pulltabs, one big iron ring and countless ticks.

But it sure does look like a great spot and picture. Good luck to ya.

Just keep going back, as you can never cover all ground. I would stay on the outskirts, because if others are detecting there, they are most likely hitting the obvious spots. Get in the water, if you want to. Maybe no one has done that.

Good luck!............HH

Thanks all! I will bring my waders and scoop next time I detect there and get into the water. The water is still cold. I have an awesome site to detect this weekend, will post later. HH, Mike

Mike,
Volleyball courts for me always come up empty. I trying to find where any beaches are around here for a hunt, still looking. I finally have started to find some older US coins on base.

Hey Mike ..........How is everything in your part of the world? you know , sometimes it nice to just chill and try something different. But when it comes to Relic hunting......History is what its all about!!!

Good Luck in future hunts! Take care!

Good luck hunting Mike.

Well you had a little "Michigan experience" I see ;D

My pulltab is bigger than your pulltab! ;D

Mike, since you were finding those pull tabs, if the area was hunted before, he or she had to leave any gold rings if they are in the sand. Unless of course they were slobs and tossed the pull tabs back on the ground.

Nice try anyway. You never know.............

I would trade a few finds for the feeling of being in paradise. Sounds like a good day. ;D
