I don't know how else to explain it........

..........there must be folks out there who don't know about the 40%ers and only retrieve the 90%ers.

Went through my seventh box of halves of the year and had my 2nd best silver percentage effort; 78 silver's; or 7.8%. However, not a single 90%, all 78 were 40% (65Px5, 66Px4, 67X30, 68Dx15 and 69Dx24).

I'm not complaining at all, as it more than doubled my silver half find for the year, but have any of you had a similar experience ?

And to top it off, it also included an '03P & D and several BU early 70s.

It has been quite a few years, but I did have a similar experience. I bought a box from my bank, and without exaggeration almost HALF of the coins were 40% silver. I did not find one 90% in there, but I was also not complaining.

Is it a rush when you find a 90%? Never roll hunted before

Eighth box of halves of the year brought me down (a bit) from my silver high of yesterday.

16 40%ers (66P, 67Px9, 68Dx2 & 69Dx4), a 64p, an 03P, 05P and my first proof...an 05S.

Still a great evening and with a cold rainy weekend forecast, some more CRHing and football watching will be in my forecast.

What years are 40%? I know that pre 64s are silver, because that is what I get from nickel rolls. I never hunted larger denominations.....

40% (silver) halves are ones minted from '65 - '70; inclusive.
