Small appear to be .22's and the large are cast .38 wad cutters from what i can tell

 .38's might be 40-50 years old but are still being made so could also be much newer.

Re: I don't think they are old...

Gotta love those bullets! (Nana...bullet Queen) :D
We have lots of Limestone around here and I've never had any problems with getting false signals from it. Only thing I can think of is...when I first started detecting, I used a bounty hunter machine. If I ever bumped it on a rock or twig, it would make false tones?

Nana :)

Re: I don't think they are old...

Thanx all...I was just happy to find anything!!!(it was my 1st time )

That makes sence there Nana...I AM useing a B.H.quick draw2.
I will keep workin with it so I can get better with the beeps & tones...
Thanx again Geo

You did GREAT for your first time hunting!

Re: I don't think they are old...

That is very kind of you Nana...I think the place that I was huntin is a old cattle water hole. There is a limestone cliff, with a long berm built infront of it.(it holds water sometimes)I have pics can I post them here or start another one ?Also I have found the locking thing that locks two traincars together. But no track anywhere!I tryed to move it....but that did not happen at all...way too heavy.I wonder if there was a station there. This looks like a job for research man!lol

Re: I don't think they are old...

yep bumping the coil on sumpin with a quick draw will get er to beep. --- if your getting a lot of falsing however try dropping the sen / power level a bit -- often this will cure it. (but not always--and slowly drop it until it stabilzes --since you lose a bit a depth in the process stop as soon as stable)

those bullet appear to be "modern" 38 pistol wadcutter design ( for target shooting) and 22's

Re: I don't think they are old...

Fossil hunting sure does look like the way to go in that area, wish we had something like that around here. Keep hunting that machine. You can learn a lot from these folks. I got my first detector when i was really young and pretty much taught myself until i bought a subscription to the magazine above^. They didn't have the internet back then...Happy hunting!!!

Re: I don't think they are old...

Nice pictures of your site.  I'm into it all too, fossils, Indian artifacts, metal detecting, etc., basically an all around hunter.

When I have hit sites that have a limestone drive way I have these false signals too.  I believe they are false because it will tell me coin at 3 inches with the GTI 2500 and when I dig there's nothing there.  I even pass the coil over the area again and nothing.  I have even dug down a little, swiped the coil over, signal still there, but after pulling more limestone out, nothing.  So now I don't bother to dig into limestone for coins.....not worth it.

I have a bucket that I throw all of my lead finds into.  I was a little disappointed when I cashed it in last time.  I believe they gave me $1.00 for 5 lbs of lead.  I spent more in gas to get there but I did it as an environmental thing.  I have a friend that casts bullets, I'll give it all to him next time.

By the way that is a nice point that you have for your avator.

HH
