I dug this brass nameplate yesterday. I’d really like to do some restoration work on

It needs some serious straightening followed by whatever cleaning can be done to brass. I’d appreciate any advice.

clean first, then anneal, then flatten between pine(or soft wood) boards/ or leather hammer, then polish up or whatever surface treatment you feel necessary.

annealing the metal is the key here and may take more than one annealing to get it completely flat. as you straighten it the metal will harden again so don't go too fast or to far at once.

not sure off the top of my head and temps and procedures can vary for different metals, Look it up online. a lot of the time a careful hand with a propane or mapgas torch can get it there.
