I finally join the 1700's silver club

I know I just did make it and by just a sliver of hope but once I cleaned it off is when I realized what I had. I've been chasing the colonial silver dream for a while. I'm on some good louisiana cane fields now that should produce more. Hopefully I'll get one uncut next time.

I'm looking for it my self, in 20 years in this hobby never found a coin from the 17th. Centrey came close, but not yet...congrats to ya...

Nice bit! Glad it had part of the date on it!

Nice dig. You definitely got a piece of the pie. :notworthy: I'm still looking for my first cut silver. Congrats!

Congrats!! Love the 1700s. Keep Swinging!!!

Super nice. It's small but it was the right piece.

Well done. Congratulations fer sure.

Thanks guys. I've been on a streak lately but haven't posted in a while due to the lack of responses from people. I've found several coins and a CW boxplate in the last two weeks. My other silver coin was an 1839 o half dime. I've found more modern silver and a few nickels too. If you guys are interested I have a channel on YouTube just subscribe and you can enjoy more of my finds and see the things I haven't been posting

Although a whole coin would be beautiful.....that sliver is way to cool...awesome piece to show everyone..I love it !!

Great piece of history! GL in chasing that next one:icon_thumright:

Thanks I've been after a Spanish silver for a while. Even though I only found this small part it's the best part to find... At least I could tell what century it came from. Really what's the chances of finding Spanish silver much less the chances of finding the perfect 1/8 of one that had the date on it. I'm sure that day there was no happier detectorist than me. My next one hopefully will be whole

Congrats and welcome to the club! I hope to find a cut Spanish this year. I've found cut colonial silver and whole Spanish, but never a true bit like yours. Nice find!

I have a question....why are the coins cut in wedges like that?
Oh, and by the way, AMAZING FIND!!!!!!
