I finally join the 1700's silver club

I know I just did make it and by just a sliver of hope but once I cleaned it off is when I realized what I had. I've been chasing the colonial silver dream for a while. I'm on some good louisiana cane fields now that should produce more. Hopefully I'll get one uncut next time.

Nice little slice of Spanish pie, and a partial date to boot. Great find!

Thanks I've been after a Spanish silver for a while. Even though I only found this small part it's the best part to find... At least I could tell what century it came from. Really what's the chances of finding Spanish silver much less the chances of finding the perfect 1/8 of one that had the date on it. I'm sure that day there was no happier detectorist than me. My next one hopefully will be whole

Congratulations on finding your first 18th century coin and your first Spanish Silver. Hunting those Louisiana cane fields, I'm sure you will find plenty more. To answer your question as to the chances of finding a piece with the date on, according to my research, is approximately 27% or 1 in every 3.75 :laughing7:

Nice silver! I'm still trying to break into the 1800s myself. Congrats!

...... haven't posted in a while due to the lack of responses from people. .....If you guys are interested I have a channel on YouTube just subscribe and you can enjoy more of my finds and see the things I haven't been posting

It is so nice to have responses. After all, why else share things, right? But, as far as subscribing to another website just to see someone's findings who felt it would be better somewhere else. Well, just me, thanks, but, no thanks.

A wonderful find, none the less.

Hey LaGold, you scratch that one off your list. Congratulations! And to think of all the different pieces of the coin you could possibly find you got the best one. You are definitely on a roll now.

I've dug a few cane fields in SE Louisiana and can say that quite often it's like digging in fudge or peanut butter. Good on you for pulling the cut silver out!

Nice little silver sliver! Hoping my first full year I find some old silver. That's a nice looking piece

No asking to sub because it would be better somewhere else just asking to subscribe to my YouTube channel to enjoy the videos I make of my hunts as it's happening in the field and to see the finds I don't post here. If your like me I enjoy getting to see other peoples finds on video. signals diggem all... LaGold Like this video

Great digs, and a nice boxplate there! Congrats on the cut silver. That's the first one I've seen come out of Louisiana besides the quarter-cut counterstamped one I dug, so they are not at all common to find. Nice religious medallion too. That's a Louisiana find for sure. You all are really racking up on the bullets. Bound to be a good button pop out for you sooner or later.
