I hunted a big park earlier this morning and I found my first ring. As you can see by looking at the photos, the ring is not real silver and pretty worn. (It looked better when it was dirty ;D )

I do have a question though, could the stones be real or is this just cosume jewelry? Do people ever put good stones on junky bands? Jewelry is not my area of expertise so I'm asking you. All I do know is that they're all clear and the top one has a pink tint to it.

Junk or not, it was about 4" down and pretty cool to see laying in the dirt.

In my opinion the stones are more than likely man made. I have never heard of or seen real stones set in base metal. Let alone stones of that size. Still a neat find though.

rule of thumb -- junk band = junk stones ( glass . crystal or at best man made el cheapo faux stones) no one is going to waste good stones in a el cheapo ring setting.

Thanks guys, that's what I figured but I had to ask.

Yes, still fun to find

I did find a mens ring in a junk band with a Tigers Eye (semi precious) stone once but the norm is junk band = junk stone.

9 times out of 10 yes it will be junk but I did find a gold plated ring with real diamonds in it nothing big but still they were real. the best thing for you to do is take it to a jeweler just to make sure they are fake

Way cool.

Tot lots are so small that I usually dig every signal. It also cleans it up for the kids that are running around in there barefoot.

Last time I hunted one I found a mini knife blade, nails, screws and some other odd metal scraps. That was my good deed for the day. ;)

So true,,,I was digging one day in a very small tot lot a couple of st. over from my house and I found a bunch of glass about a half an inch down or less. I also found about $2.00 to $3.00 Maybe more in that park. :) I havnt been able to go for a while,,,its just been so darn hot here. ill be glad when fall comes! :)
