I found this at a flea market. I knew it was Civil War but don't know what it's for. Any ideas?

It's a good looking repro. I got it cheaper than when I reinacted.

It's probably a repro, but original NCO and musicians eagle plates can have three iron or brass wire hooks on them.

What's the leather for? Leather is old. Brass ring has a lot of wear. The plate is old so if repro it's an old repro.

Here's a similar plate. Hooks are the same. Sadly I can't get this plate off.

I got the plate off. Here is more pictures. If it's fake they did a good job and fooled me. I'm glad I didn't pay much for it.

Your plate does look pretty good but I didn't like the way it was displayed. Never saw that done before on that kind and shape of leather.
