I found this in a swimming hole

[d2]

here in Arkansas this morning. I am never surprised at what comes out of it. 4 class rings so far, Civil War bullets, CW knapsack hooks and gobs of clad.
This coin is dated 1935 and says: one shilling 1935 territory of New Quinea.
the othe side says: rex et ind imp georgius v d g.. I am guessing that some one was stationed there during WWII and brought this home. Here are my questions. Is it silver, what is a shilling worth, and what are the words in latin? Found a fired 3 ringer not very far from it. I do love detecting in the water...d2

That is a cool find! I have plans to check out a swimming hole next week. Hope I have some of your luck!

I think they were made of copper and bronze, and a schilling isn't worth much about 67 schillings = 1 dollar
