Sorry this is my first time on this site! I’m not even sure if I’m doing this correct. It seems to be stone?

there are some guys here that nay be able to tell you if it natural or a worked piece of stone.
can you get a clearer picture? those are a little blurry.

Well it’s definitely soft stone? I just tried to break it and it broke! I glued it back together. Maybe I shouldn’t have but I did.

colonial beach '' Potomac River" in Westmorland County is well known for fossils. so, my guess is a vertebra from a sea creature.

The container looks like it is for storage of a microscope objective. The objective can be screwed off of the microscope. When dropped into the container it stops when the objective flange hits the rim of the container. The container top is then screwed on.
