I also use a technetics delta 4000 I have been Metal Detecting at my grandperants everyday. And they live where the C.S soldiers walked.

Excellent! The 'Garrett Carrot' is definitely a necessity...especially if you are hitting any sort of water. If you have any shallow river "swimming holes" you can even blindly poke around the rocks and listen for that thing to go crazy 
P.S. If you have people swimming near you they will hear that thing too...its funny to watch the looks on their face when they try and figure out WHERE that noise is coming from.
