Well I finally purchased a MD last Friday. I bought a White's Beach Hunter ID. I used it over the week trying to get familiar with it and found a few coins. Now that I have the basic fundamentals down on function, I am interested in learning more about strategy on locating good finds. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
How does weather ie. wind affect searching in the water?
When searching in wet sand where do I want to primarily be looking? Where the high tide water line is, or low?
Sometimes I have a break in the threshold tone (different then the beeping tone) when I pass over a spot, should I dig everytime?

Also any tips that you might have please let me know. I know much does come with experience.

Definitely check out thegoldenolde.com/ The change in threshold you hear is probably due to black sand and salt water together. The Beach Hunter II is not an Excalibur or PI machine so you'll get this sound. The machine works well hip mounted and it's best to not wrap the wire around the shaft but tape it along the side to make a smaller profile to water resistance. Saves weight on the arm too by hip mounting or worn around your neck. The large flat coil can be troublesome in a surf. Now you need a heavy duty stainless steel scoop with a long handle.
