I went out to my trusty spot today, just a quick two hour hunt. Near where I found a copper last weekend I found what looks like a thin halfpenny sized copper that someone cut in half to make into a Farthing. It's toasted and worn smooth but I'm pretty sure it's a coin, looks old considering how thin it is. Next I noticed that the small stream was almost dry, I tried it and found a rough pewter pewter button and a musket ball. There are bricks and huge iron on the side and in a small part of the stream, I'm guessing that there was a house at one point there. I also found some ceramic pieces in the stream. Farther down the stream I found the parts to a pocket watch, encrusted with rust due to the water, I never found the case of it but I found all of the insides. Anyways, After that I left and went home, with boots and gloves packed with mud.

I guess you'de call it cracked copper.

Maybe call it a broken button?

Looks like a good place to make a return to. Last fall, I found a hard times token with 1/4 cut out. I thought that was weird.

Here's a cut large cent (in half) that I found a couple years back with fmerg. It seems they did cut copper coins outside of the big cities for change. Odd to see them cut a half cent in half, but I guess 1/4 cent had some value in its day. Cut copper is a cool find!

Cool coin, the coin you found looks like a classic head. Just to clarify, my coin is not a half cent, it's a British Halfpenny, pretty much equivalent to a large cent. Cut into the equivlent of a farthing or half cent.

Funny, I dug a cut copper today also. Can't see any detail but its thin like a KG. I'll post a photo when I get time !

Cool, Hope to see it soon ;) Old coppers are certainly my favorite finds.

I also found a cut large I even got the 820 making it a 1820. I woulda just cut some plumbing and used it as currency...wait a minute...

Been cutting copper in half since Roman times.
