Just a guess but i'm thinking a decorative piece of some kind, or some kind of tool for punching holes...interesting!

Looks like it "fits" inside something else to me.

Guess #1 - Maybe an accessory tool for an anvil. (Total guess - I was not raised on a farm!)
Guess #2 - Maybe a blacksmith tool to put holes in horseshoes?
Guess #3 - Tool for manual typesetting, but I doubt it.
Guess #4 - A punch for some sort of industrial antique press (leather?)

I don't know if any of these things would be made out of cast iron, though.

Candle holder. Point attaches and keeps it upright.

I agree with tennessee. Most likely a candle spike that probably fit into a decorative holder
