Yesterday was a Friday and I was doing some running around I went by a garage sale out in a rural area. Having $60 bucks in my wallet, I said let's see what they got. I dropped $45 on two items. $15 on an old carbide lamp and $30 on this vise/avil that only has Patented Sept. 22, 1914, which is the only markings on it. I did find a few examples of this vise/anvil online that sold for $150. to $180, but no info on who made it. The old carbide lamp might be worth $45 to $50., but there are details about these lamps that determine the value to collectors. One I know is if the lamp is stamped with a particular mine companies name on it can make it worth more. This one doesn't have the normal patent marks as many do on the bottom, but only says United States of America. Don't know if that means it's saying where it's from or it belonged to the USA government?

Ya dun good! :icon_thumright:
I thought so. I know some antique guys on the western part of the state who'd give me more. All the jewelry they said were heirlooms of the wife's parents, who moved to assisted living. Lots of junk accumulated by her father.

I can't resist an old made in America bench vise. A lot of people are buying the old ones and restoring them. That looks like a big one.
It is bigger than most. About 24 inches in length.

Love that old vise.

And I heard, that you had No Vices! Congrat's on the old vise and the lamp.
