I joined a historic society

I've been talking with the head guy over a year in county bordering mine. It's got old rich history and civil war impacts as well. He said it would be in my best interest to join since he knows I detect and he's helped me with a few areas to narrow down activity. Will see what connections I can make. I'm excited. I'm sure it will make me more credible and hopefully trustworthy when I try to get new permissions.

Outstanding. I had also joined one in the past and the best thing was when my wife and I put on a medal detecting talk with a display of goodies. That one simple gesture opened many doors and yards for us.

I have one permission that heads a historical board, and he even owns a detector. He offered up his property to me, as he only had found one button.
He tells me of sites that predate the historical atlases.
He wants me on their digs and to look for a cannon that is in a large creek system.
Over the years I have met others and they've been very open for me to hunt their properties.
