Which one is Confederate? Judging by the type of attachment called "self shanks", the 3 in the upper left are post 1918 or after.
 

I think the one on right top is a "C", quite flattened.
 

I was thinking the C was for Confederate Calvary?

CONGRATULATIONS DOC!!!

I have been studying your buttons, and it looks like you have TWO Confederate buttons. Your one button in the bottom right corner is a South Carolina button. I rotated and enhanced it a tiny bit and pasted beside a South Carolina button in the image below. Yours is the one on the right, but you can clearly make the detail out once you know what you are looking at! Very Cool Button!
