A week or two ago while detecting the front yard of a 1930’s permission property, I couldn’t help but notice a huge old pine tree standing about 15-feet from the front porch of the house.
As I worked my way around this tree, my detector responded to something “iffy” but large. I dug a 5” deep plug and after flipping it over, I saw the head of a large, rusted nail imbedded in the plug (s#%!). After removing the nail and swinging my detector over the hole again, my target signal improved dramatically. I scooped out a handful of dirt and in it was a 1941 Merc dime plus a Wheat penny stuck to a 1952 silver quarter. Every handful of dirt thereafter contained 1 or 2 coins which netted me a grand total of 13 coins ranging dates from 1920 to 1955.
Thanks for looking & happy hunting (around those old trees)
